With over 29 years of experience in the areas of venture investing, marketing and business development across multiple sectors in India, Kanwal has been involved in helping build several consumer brands like Paper Boat, Tzinga, Hokey Pokey, Epigamia, Yogabar, Bonhomia, Licious, Dropkaffe, Buttercups, ID Special, Lifecell, Mast Kalandar, Yepme etc.
Prior to Fireside, Kanwal was a co-founder of Helion where he spent a decade investing in consumer and consumer technology businesses & Prior to Helion, Kanwal spent four years as a director and co-head of The Carlyle Group's India venture operations. Before this, he worked as Head of Marketing for Intel South Asia. He joined Intel from Hindustan Unilever Ltd. where he spent over 10 years in various functions including sales, marketing and product innovation.
Aruna is a performance director, designer, trainer and founder of Visual Respiration, a performance company committed to designing unique audience experiences. She holds an (MA) in Advanced Theatre Practice from The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, London, United Kingdom. She has a Masters in Marketing & Communications with a focus on Communication design and visual media.
Aruna has been in theatre and performance for the last 15 years. Her most recent work, Re:play, an immersive performance inspired by Traditional Indian Games has been performed over 35 times in Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Singapore and London. It was also showcased at the Kala Ghoda Arts festival in Mumbai in 2014.
Combining extensive research of subjects and theatrical application, her modules ensure that students have an active learning process which shapes their understanding of subjects and enables personal discoveries, about themselves as well as the learning material.
Aruna has worked with Daimler and Ashok Leyland for 6 years as part of the Marketing Communication team, working and supporting the brand development and the launch of a new brand of truck in the Indian Market. Her work focused on design thinking, communication delivery and audience experience management.
